LeVis- solar energy sharing and smart meter system

ICT Energy Prototype
Description

LeVis is an innovative solar energy solution that enables households and small businesses to share or trade excess electricity using a smart device called the SOLbox Meter. The system combines affordable IoT hardware with a digital platform that measures, transfers, and records energy usage between users in nearby communities. This model promotes peer-to-peer solar energy access, reduces wastage, and makes clean energy more reliable and affordable for all.

Impact

LeVis aims to reduce Uganda’s rural energy gap by allowing communities to share locally generated solar power instead of wasting excess electricity. The innovation creates new economic opportunities by enabling micro-energy trading, supporting green jobs, and reducing dependence on expensive or unreliable grid power. It contributes directly to SDG 7 (Affordable & Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
