Feats Agri-Jobs Web-Based Tool – Minimizing the Mismatch in Employment in the Agricultural Sector

Agriculture Prototype
Description

The Feasts Agri Jobs Web-Based Tool is an online matching platform that links farmers (semi and commercial) with skilled agricultural professionals across Uganda and East Africa. The farmers post job opportunities specifying the required technical, agribusiness, and soft skills, along with the preferred level of education, and experience they need, while job seekers create detailed profiles with their qualifications and experience. The system uses a matching algorithm and scoring system to automatically compare farmers’ requirements with applicants’ profiles, ranking candidates based on relevance and suitability. Farmers receive notifications of the top three matches, review and confirms them. We then invite the confirmed applicants for due diligence, training, and verification before connecting him to the employer. This tool bridges the skills gap in agriculture by making it easier for farmers to find qualified labour. It promotes transparency, efficiency, and professionalism in agricultural recruitment while creating employment and skills-matching opportunities for youth and professionals in the agri-sector.

Impact

This innovation will transform the agricultural labour market by providing a structured, transparent, and data-driven way for farmers to access qualified professionals. It will address youth unemployment and the skills mismatch in agriculture by connecting trained graduates to job opportunities. It also promotes gender inclusion by offering equal access to jobs for women and young people in the agricultural sector. Simplifying recruitment, helps farmers save time, reduce hiring costs, and professionalize farm operations, ultimately improving production, income, and sustainability. It also contributes to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by fostering digital inclusion, job creation, and economic resilience in the agricultural value chain.
