Community Sanitation and Hygiene Campaign.

Education Climate & Environment Pilot
Description

The Sanitation and Hygiene Campaign improves health in government schools and nearby communities by teaching simple, practical hygiene habits. Our team visits schools and villages to conduct demonstrations on handwashing, waste management, and keeping the environment clean. For example, in August we carried out activities at Naama RC Primary School in Mityana, engaging learners and community members. The goal is to reduce preventable diseases and promote a cleaner, healthier living environment for everyone.

Impact

The Sanitation and Hygiene Campaign improves community health by reducing the spread of preventable diseases, especially among schoolchildren and families in nearby communities. With better health, children attend school more regularly and perform better academically. Families save money that would otherwise be spent on treating sanitation-related illnesses, improving their economic well-being. Overall, the campaign strengthens community productivity and supports long-term development through healthier living conditions.

Target Audience

The primary beneficiaries are schoolchildren in government schools and community members in the surrounding villages. Teachers and school administrators also benefit through improved learning environments. Ultimately, families and the wider community gain from better hygiene practices and reduced disease outbreaks.
