Description

SafeMarketMap is an application that uses artificial intelligence to map safe food market points ,confirms food farm source and certify safe, healthy food for consumers. It helps farmers, cooperatives and vendors prove that their produce is free from harmful chemical residues through labelled production records and QR code scan using smartphone. The application gives consumers and regulators real-time information on where safe food is sold and where risks exist. This innovation improves public health, strengthens trust in local markets and supports Uganda’s growing digital agriculture ecosystem.

Impact

SafeMarketMap improves public health by reducing exposure to unsafe food and gives consumers confidence in what they buy. It increases incomes for farmers, cooperatives and vendors by helping them prove the quality of their produce and access better markets. The system creates new digital jobs for youth as market mappers, data collectors, and safety agents, while strengthening Uganda’s capacity for modern, tech-driven food systems. Overall, the innovation boosts livelihoods, supports fair trade and contributes to a healthier and more productive population.
