Used Motor oil re-refining.

Climate & Environment Pilot
Description

Recycling used motor oil into fresh base oil, engine oil, grease and asphalt slates.

Impact

Socially, the project brings together different categories of people like waste oil collectors, drivers, chemical laboratory team, sales persons, etc offering them a platform for interaction as workers for a common cause. This interaction is key in learning from one another, promoting connections which results in quality of life enhancement, among others. From the economic aspect, project execution offers jobs to community people skilled and unskilled and thus reducing unemployment in the country. Through this workers' quality of life improves because of what they earn as wages. At national level, the cost of foreign exchange, taxes paid to source - countries, shipping costs or generally all costs associated with importation of oils are lowered. Additionally, the project boosts local production which is in line with "Buy Uganda Build Uganda" program and not only reduces dependency on imported goods but also widens Uganda's tax base.

Target Audience

Motorists get oil designed based on the requirements of the performance environment. Community gets a solution to waste motor oil which would rather pollute environment.
