ELDERLY CARE MONITORING AND SUPPORT SYSTEM

Health ICT Prototype
Description

The Elderly Care Monitoring and Support System (ECMSS) enhances the quality of life for older adults in Uganda through real-time, accessible health monitoring. It tackles issues like limited health supervision, frequent falls, missed medications, and caregiver burnout. The system uses technology to ensure continuous, responsive care and support. Its ultimate goal is to promote dignified aging by connecting the elderly, caregivers, and health professionals.

Impact

The ECMSS will reduce healthcare costs by minimizing hospital readmission and emergency visits through early detection and timely intervention. It will ease caregiver workload, enhance elderly independence, and improve overall family well-being. By promoting continuous, technology-assisted care, the system supports healthier aging and reduces the financial burden of chronic illness management. Ultimately, it strengthens community-based health systems and contributes to a more inclusive, dignified aging experience in Uganda.
